Have you ever read a book which changed your life? For me it was “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz. In 2001 I was gifted the small book by a friend for Christmas. The book was so simple but yet very profound. 1) Be impeccable with your Word, 2) Don’t assume anything, 3) Don’t take things personality & 4) Always do your best. Sounds simple right? Yes it is but it can be challenging to incorporate the agreements into your life in a consistent manner.
On 8/28/02 I got to see the author, Don Miguel Ruiz and his Son Don Jose Ruiz in person for his final public appearance. He spoke at the Spanish Book festival in Los Angeles (LeaLA) in an outdoor venue filled with adoring fans.
I had seen him speak on many occasions yet this time it seemed different. He spoke with such peace, he beamed with pride when he listened to his Son Don Jose share his perspective on life. He became vulnerable as he explained the reason he was stepping out of the public eye. He shared the global success of the book which he knew changed the lives of many people.
